Welcome to the Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Group at the University of Melbourne. We are a collaboration of scientists studying horticultural improvement of Australian native plants using biotechnology, development of low allergen grass cultivars, the production of vaccines in plants, genetic engineering of male sterility in brassica crops and designing stress tolerant food crops for future agricultural and environmental needs. We work closely with government departments and agencies, local governments and industry to ensure wide application of our research findings.
Our research informs our teaching to provide you with the opportunity to enhance your professional knowledge and experience through our graduate coursework and research programs and contribute to research in the sustainable production, processing, marketing and distribution of food and fibre products amid the pressures of great environmental change.
